On October 3, the Center for Public Analytics "Vezha" hosted an analysis of the political situation in Europe and Ukraine, featuring Valeriy Klochok and prominent political analyst Ihor Artyukhovych.
The main focus was the recent meeting of European leaders in Copenhagen, where tensions between the German Chancellor and Hungarian Prime Minister led to heated discussions. Hungarian leader Orbán expressed skepticism about Ukraine's EU membership, citing risks for Hungary due to proximity to Russia and the potential challenges Ukrainian integration might pose to Hungary's economy and society.
The analyst emphasized that Orbán is building his politics on anti-European and anti-Ukrainian rhetoric, using these stances in the internal political campaign ahead of elections. The discussion highlighted the possible changes in EU decision-making processes, especially regarding voting mechanisms and Hungary's role as a recipient country.
Special attention was also given to Ukraine's internal affairs, including the upcoming meeting between MPs from the "Servant of the People" faction and President Zelenskyi. The conversation touched on hints about election preparations or potential ceasefire, as well as required legislative amendments to hold presidential or parliamentary elections under martial or emergency law.
Experts highlighted that politicians are already preparing for possible elections, while the EU stands ready to support the process financially. European integration and political stability remain crucial for Ukraine’s and the entire continent’s future development.
