The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump, during a conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, urged Ukraine to go on the counteroffensive and discussed possible strikes on Moscow. Zelensky responded that Ukraine is ready for active operations if provided with additional resources. Later, the Trump administration began to soften the initial statements regarding attacks on the Russian capital.
The Ukrainian side started preparing for increased military activity, while Trump’s allies maintain he still aims to end the war quickly. Trump agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine using European funds, which allows him to influence Moscow's stance while keeping a certain distance from direct support.
Additionally, Zelensky spoke to the new NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov about intensifying negotiations with Russia. Moscow commented on these talks positively, though Ukrainian officials remain skeptical of Russian sincerity given ongoing attacks on civilians.
On the battlefield, the Ukrainian Armed Forces regained control over Yalta and Voskresenka in Donetsk region and made limited counterattacks in other areas. There are also reports of financial difficulties in Russia and Azerbaijan declining to attend the CIS economic council due to tensions with Russia.
Western politicians predict the war could continue for another year, as Ukraine expects expanded defensive support. Meanwhile, fundraising in Ukraine continues for equipment needed by the armed forces. Ukrainian defenders in Donetsk region confirmed recapturing the settlements of Yalta and Voskresenka.
