Ukrainian drones strike Leningrad region, causing aviation collapse in Russia

Ukrainian drones attacked Russian territory, disrupting flights in the Leningrad region and causing the cancellation of a parade in St. Petersburg.

Ukrainian drones launched a large-scale attack on Russia’s Leningrad region, severely disrupting the local aviation sector. The assault led to flight cancellations, airport disruptions, and travelers stranded in terminals. There were reports of a cyberattack on Russian airline Aeroflot, further paralyzing air travel.

As a result of combat operations and internet shutdowns, banking services were disrupted and logistics costs rose, adding secondary economic pressures on Russia. The St. Petersburg Navy Day parade was canceled for security reasons amid these events.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin marked the day with a small, private gathering instead of the public parade, while Russian officials complained about severe delays due to drone attacks. Additional drone incidents were reported near the borders of Lithuania and Belarus, ahead of the planned "Zapad 2025" Russian-Belarusian military drills near the EU border.

Meanwhile, the European Union agreed to purchase U.S. energy resources, increasing pressure on the Russian economy. Ukrainian military units continue to receive modern FPV drones funded by public donations, with calls for continued support and army reforms to ensure Ukraine’s success in the war.
