Top News: Strikes in Crimea and Sochi, Erdogan's Peace Plan, and Polish Border Tensions

Key events: successful operations by Ukrainian forces against Russian military targets, Erdogan's truce initiative, and Polish visa debate.

Ukraine's defense forces have carried out a successful operation in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying Russian fighter jets at the Saky airbase and launching a strike on Sochi airport in Russia's Krasnodar region, hitting a fuel facility and sparking a major fire.

The Security Service of Ukraine and drone units inflicted significant losses on the Russian military. Media reports estimate Russian losses at hundreds of millions of dollars, including destroyed aircraft and aviation munitions depots. These actions are part of Ukraine's wider strategy to undermine Russia's military and economic potential.

Meanwhile, Donetsk faces a humanitarian crisis, with residents having access to water only a few hours every several days, and no substantial aid coming from international organizations. Local leaders admit they are unable to resolve the issue.

On the political front, Turkish President Erdogan plans to visit Ukraine with a partial truce proposal, focused initially on an aerial ceasefire. Diplomatic circles suggest that Turkey may mediate talks between the Ukrainian and Russian leaders, beginning with expert-level negotiations.

China and Russia have started joint military exercises near Japan, complicating international efforts to reach agreements. At the same time, Russia has softened its nuclear rhetoric following US warnings and the deployment of nuclear submarines nearer to Russia.

Among other developments, Poland is considering stricter border measures, possibly introducing a visa regime for Ukrainians—a matter of concern as the war and refugee crisis continue.
