Political analyst and consultant Maksym Nesvitailov has commented on the Hungarian government's latest move in the European Union. Budapest has filed a lawsuit with the EU Court challenging the decision to use profits from frozen Russian assets in support of Ukraine.
This development comes amid ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and recent heavy missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. Nesvitailov points out that Hungary's actions are systematic: in the past, the country blocked Ukraine’s EU membership, financial aid, and arms supplies.
The expert notes that Hungary filed the lawsuit back in July, before the incident with the Druzhba oil pipeline. Therefore, Hungary’s initiative is not a response to recent events but appears to be a preemptive measure to influence European policy.
Nesvitailov also highlights Hungary’s use of issues related to Russian frozen assets, Budapest's activities in Zakarpattia, and its imperial ambitions. In addition, he mentions Lithuania’s proposal to start Ukraine-EU talks without Hungary's approval and the call to reform decision-making rules within the European Union.
The expert encourages society to follow Ukraine’s European integration process and actively participate in discussions about such political moves.
