Participants discussed that the European approach to the war is shaped by both external and internal factors, especially considering shifting US policies. The EU is channeling financial resources to support Ukraine's defense, with the overall goal of preventing escalation of hostilities across Europe.
A key topic was China's recognition of Ukraine's independence. Experts noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping's statement and his participation in shaping the new global order signal a changing Chinese role in international politics. It was emphasized that Russia is becoming increasingly economically dependent on China and is turning into its satellite.
The discussion suggested that BRICS, in which China plays a leading role, may pave the way for a more pronounced bipolar system between Western nations and those who have seen themselves as sidelined in global resource distribution.
Experts pointed out China’s interest in ending the war and underscored that future decisions in security and economic cooperation will be highly influential for Ukraine and in building a new structure of international relations.
It was noted that for now, Ukraine remains mainly an object rather than a subject in global geopolitical maneuvering. However, there remains hope for successful peace developments.
