Russia strikes Ukrainian Cabinet and cities: overnight attack and mobilization threat

Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine's Cabinet and cities, as Budanov warns of a possible Russian mobilization.

On Sunday night, Russia conducted a massive missile and drone attack on targets across Ukraine. Authorities reported a record launch of 805 drones and 13 missiles. Ukrainian air defense shot down 92% of the drones, but some ballistic missiles hit their targets.

Targets included the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the cities of Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv (Sviatoshyn and Darnytsia districts), Odesa, Kremenchuk, and Zaporizhzhia. Residential buildings were damaged in Kyiv and other cities. No Cabinet staff casualties were recorded.

Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said Russia might announce a new mobilization and is launching a rearmament program worth 1.2 trillion rubles through 2030. Ukrainian intelligence warns of a possible Russian winter offensive. Budanov emphasized that while mobilization will be painful for Russia, it will not stop its military machine.

Ukrainian authorities call on the international community to strengthen sanctions against Russia, as the strikes show Moscow's reluctance for real negotiations.

President Zelensky rejected the capitulation proposed after talks, stating Russia's conditions are unacceptable for Ukraine.

The Cabinet strike is seen as a symbolic warning to foreign governments about Russia’s stance. Ukrainian authorities stress the importance of military support and economic pressure on Russia.
