Russia's massive attack on Ukraine using drones and missiles has prompted strong reactions from leading European politicians. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský called Putin a coward for attacking civilians, particularly women and children. Similar statements were made by Lithuanian and Latvian officials.
Lithuania’s National Security Minister Kęstutis Budrys emphasized that the rocket and drone bombardment marks a new phase in the war. He urged international partners to urgently provide more weapons and increase sanctions against Russia as the current attacks represent a serious escalation.
Ukraine is calling for decisive action from international partners in response to the largest recent missile and drone barrage, which for the first time since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion damaged a government building. Civilian houses were also hit, with casualties and injuries reported in several cities.
In retaliation, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a strategic target—the "Stalnoy Kony" oil pipeline control station in Russia's Bryansk region, which is important for transporting oil products from Belarus.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities and their allied leaders, including Kadyrov, called for continued aggression against Ukraine. However, the global community urges increased pressure on Russia and the supply of modern air defense systems to help protect Ukrainian civilians.
The President and Prime Minister of Latvia made similar appeals, highlighting the urgent need for military and political support for Ukraine to stop the aggressor and shield civilians.
