Russian Drone Attack on Poland: NATO, Tusk, and Global Political Reactions

Maksym Nesvitailov analyzes the Russian Shahed drone attack on Poland, reactions from NATO and Poland, and implications for European security.

Political scientist and consultant Maksym Nesvitailov analyzed the Russian Shahed drone attack on Polish territory that took place on September 10. According to him, this event fits the overall pattern of provocations discussed previously on the channel.

Reuters reports that NATO is not considering the drone incursion as an attack but rather as a large-scale provocation. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk holds the same view. After initial consultations, NATO may invoke Article 4 to intensify discussions among members.

Polish and Dutch air forces (including F-35s) and Italian reconnaissance units took part in efforts to repel the drones. Only four out of 19 attacking drones were shot down. Nesvitailov highlights that Ukrainian air defense achieves greater effectiveness with less technical capability.

The analyst notes that Russia and China see this attack as a test of NATO’s security system. His review covers the reactions of Western politicians, including the lack of direct response from Donald Trump and his circle's views on sanctions against Russia.

Nesvitailov warns of risks for Poland and Europe before upcoming Belarus military exercises and stresses the need for European unity against existential threats. He calls for collective resistance to aggression.
