Review of International Politics, the War in Ukraine, and Economic Crisis in Russia

Analysis of key events: negotiation attempts, Russia's economic crisis, drone attacks, state of the war, and support for Ukraine.

Recently, the US president again proposed a meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, despite previous failed attempts. Putin is likely to refuse, and dialogue remains impossible due to mutual animosity.

Donald Trump declared his readiness to impose new sanctions on Russia, but only if NATO allies do the same. He again criticized Europe for buying Russian energy, but these statements seem to shift responsibility for his own inaction on Russia.

European leaders convinced Trump that Russia is not interested in ending the war. On Russian television, self-denial of involvement in the drone attack on Poland continues, even though not all propagandists agree.

Russia's hybrid attacks target not only Poland but other European countries due to the lack of tough responses. Russia repeats rhetoric about not threatening NATO, despite regular nuclear threats.

Ukraine calls on Europe to introduce new sanctions and stop buying Russian energy. Drones and long-range means for destroying Russian UAV facilities and infrastructure are crucial. Ukrainian drone strikes have deepened the Russian fuel crisis, now spreading even to the Russian Far East.

Despite official rhetoric, the Russian economy shows signs of stagnation, with shortened workweeks and "shock scenarios" in budgets indicating internal difficulties.

The Russian military does not plan to end the war, instead conducting a war of attrition. Ukraine must intensify army reform and, with partners, focus efforts on striking Russia's economic foundations.

On the frontline, Ukrainian forces have liberated Pankivka and other territories in Donetsk region, although the situation remains difficult. Civil society actively supports the armed forces by supplying drones to Ukrainian units.

Citizens are urged to demand army reform and continue supporting Ukraine's defense forces.
