The Russian Federation’s hybrid war against NATO is already underway. Last night, Russian forces launched a massive air assault on Ukraine, using cruise and ballistic missiles as well as drones. The Dnipro region suffered the most casualties, with fatalities reported in Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv regions, and damages in Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kyiv regions.
Ukrainian drone defense systems are proving effective, with locally made interceptors shooting down enemy UAVs each attack. Ukrainian defenders have expressed gratitude to all who contributed funds for drones at the front.
Simultaneously, Ukraine’s defense forces drone-attacked oil refineries in Russia, inflicting economic losses on the adversary.
Internationally, incidents with Russia persist. Two Russian fighters breached the security zone of a Polish offshore platform in the Baltic Sea, while three MiG-31s violated Estonian airspace, forced to leave after Italian NATO fighters intervened. Estonia invoked Article 4 of NATO for consultations.
Large-scale cyberattacks disrupt several European airports, and Russian sabotage activities affect the continent. Russia is waging a hybrid war against the Alliance, with various acts of aggression.
Ukrainian experts emphasize NATO must boost military support for Ukraine—especially air defense and long-range weapons. Only by destroying Russia’s military-economic capacity and strengthening Ukraine’s role on the frontline can European security be ensured.
The West avoids decisive action, fearing escalation. However, lack of an adequate response to Russia’s hybrid attacks increases the risk of a major war in Europe in the future.
