Fuel Shortage in Irkutsk Region, Deportations of Russians from Latvia, and Western Support for Ukraine: Key Updates

Summary of the fuel shortage in Russia, deportations of Russians from Latvia, and Western military support for Ukraine.

A major fuel shortage has gripped Irkutsk Region in Russia, especially in the city of Kirinsk, amid a burning oil depot in temporarily occupied Feodosia. Russian media cite refinery shutdowns as the cause, affecting much of eastern Russia. Attacks by unmanned drones have also led to disruptions at refineries such as Bashnyev's in Bashkortostan.

Belgorod region has faced power outages after attacks on energy infrastructure, forcing locals to use generators. However, shortages and new restrictions on refueling canisters have complicated the situation further.

Meanwhile, Latvia has announced the deportation of 800 Russian citizens for failing to learn Latvian. Russian officials and propagandists have responded by accusing Latvia and the EU of discrimination.

Tensions remain high as Russia issues threats against EU and NATO countries, including Poland and the Baltic states. The US proposed lifting some sanctions in exchange for Russia withdrawing from some Ukrainian territories, but Moscow refused.

The possibility of the US supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles is being discussed. Ukrainian forces have meanwhile received 210 new FPV drones from volunteers, enhancing their front-line defenses.

Russian attacks have intensified in the Donetsk region. Volunteers request continued support for Ukraine’s security and defense forces as the situation escalates.
