US President Donald Trump, at a press conference, called on Vladimir Putin to stop the killing of Ukrainians and Russians, stating this is his main message to the Russian leader.
Ahead of a planned meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump continues to intensify emotional pressure on Putin and threatens a significant increase in American arms supplies to Ukraine. He mentioned the possibility of providing long-range Tomahawk missiles, though no final decision has been made.
Additionally, Trump reported an agreement with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on stopping India’s import of Russian oil, although Indian officials clarified decisions would be based on consumer interests.
So far, Trump's actions remain limited to statements and verbal escalation. Russia, in response, issues its own escalation threats, highlighting potential US missile deliveries to Ukraine and referencing nuclear rhetoric.
Experts emphasize that, as of now, no real decisions increasing US military aid to Ukraine have been made, while Russian oil continues to flow to India and China. Trump hopes his signals will pressure Putin into concessions, but Moscow responds in kind, opting for escalation over compromise.
For Kyiv, it is important that Washington no longer blames Ukraine for prolonging the conflict, but an end to the war still appears distant. The United States continues to view Putin as the main instigator of the war in Europe.
