Frontline crisis: Pokrovsk under threat, Zelensky-Trump talks, differences with Putin

A detailed analysis of Zelensky and Trump's talks, their impact on the war, the crisis in Pokrovsk, and vital support for Ukrainian troops.

While society focuses on a potential meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, new details have emerged regarding the recent meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the US president. According to media reports, during the talks Trump pressured Zelensky to cede part of Ukraine's territory to Russia, claiming otherwise Putin would destroy Ukraine. Trump also refused to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine and considered providing security guarantees to both sides. The Ukrainian delegation was reportedly puzzled by such proposals. Publicly, Trump denies demanding territorial concessions, stating instead that he called only for freezing the frontline.

Zelensky, in response, confirmed that the status of Donbas, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions remains unresolved, with significant difference in interpretation between sides. Trump's refusal to supply Tomahawk missiles, allegedly to avoid escalation with Russia, is seen by Ukrainian officials as counterproductive, arguing that military support strengthens Ukraine's defense and its absence encourages further Russian aggression.

Amid diplomatic moves, Ukrainian troops are confronting severe difficulties on the frontline, particularly in Pokrovsk. The town is partly occupied by Russian forces, with ongoing street fighting in the center and logistics routes largely controlled by the enemy. Evacuating the wounded and reinforcing the garrison has become extremely challenging. Problems with command and communications further complicate the defense.

Ukrainians are actively supporting their army, raising funds for drones and equipment for units in the Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Kupiansk areas. Troops have expressed gratitude for the provided FPV-drones, communications hardware, and tech that enable more effective defense and targeting of the enemy.

The overall situation remains tense. Unless urgent and systematic changes and timely support are provided, the risks for Ukrainian defense remain high, while Russian activity continues along the entire frontline. Collective efforts from Ukrainian citizens, initiatives, and international partners are aimed at supporting the army and defending the country.
