Vadym Denysenko: Talks, War, and Trump's Influence – Ukraine on the Eve of Winter

Political analyst Vadym Denysenko discusses Ukraine’s power outages, Russian energy attacks, negotiation prospects, and the roles of the US and China.

On October 22, the Veza Public Analytics Center studio hosted an interview with Vadym Denysenko, head of the analytical center Dylova Stolitsya. The main topics included Ukraine's electricity blackouts, the challenges for the country’s energy sector, and geopolitical prospects amid war and ongoing negotiations.

Denysenko noted that blackouts this year may be more severe than in previous years due to intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He stressed the importance of public preparedness, specifically the purchase of generators or inverters where possible.

The analyst explained that Russia’s goal remains the destruction of Ukraine’s energy system, and this year, attacks might not have the seasonal pauses seen before. However, Ukraine is better equipped to withstand these attacks than before, though risks persist.

The interview also covered the prospects for negotiations between the US and Russia, as well as a potential summit between Trump and Putin. According to Denysenko, the chance of quick deals is currently low, and the "window" for talks remains closed. Russia is publicly avoiding conflict with Trump while maintaining its strict stance on the front line.

The discussion also touched on the influence of China, the US, and Europe in the ongoing war and the search for agreements. Denysenko believes Ukraine is part of the European negotiation track, but Kyiv’s direct role in global arrangements is limited by a lack of deeper contacts with both China and the US.

In conclusion, the expert highlighted the highly dynamic international situation around Ukraine and the need for Ukrainians to critically understand and analyze ongoing events.
