Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a recent address, threatened Western countries once again with nuclear weapons. He touted new unmanned underwater drones, "Poseidon," describing them as "unparalleled." Putin discussed dangers for Europe, especially the US, and referenced other nuclear projects like "Burevestnik" and "Sarmat."
Putin's actions triggered reactions from the West. The Belgian Defense Minister said that a Russian attack would be met with the destruction of Moscow. The Russian side criticized these statements, with pro-government media and propaganda spreading alarming scenarios, including a British press opinion about a possible destruction of Kyiv. However, these are opinion pieces urging the West to increase financial and military aid to Ukraine to avoid the war spreading to Europe.
On the frontline, especially near Pokrovsk, the situation remains tense. Fierce fighting continues, with Russian forces trying to advance, but Ukrainian defenders are holding the line. The Ukrainian army needs technical, drone, and financial support.
Meanwhile, diplomacy remains fraught: the US is negotiating with China over Ukraine, and Russian statements about peace are seen as attempts to gain time for new attacks. Ukraine continues to fight for its territory, energy infrastructure, cultural heritage, and future.
