Strikes on Russian Factories, Internal Problems in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Difficult Situation at the Front: Events Overview

Overview of current military events: attacks on Russian infrastructure, losses among Ukrainian forces, support for the front and systemic issues in the Armed Forces.

Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory and on occupier targets in temporarily occupied areas occur almost daily. Last night, drones hit an oil refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, causing a fire. Drones also struck a petrochemical plant in Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan, partially collapsing one of the workshops. In Luhansk region, near Dovzhansk, drones targeted an ammunition depot.

Ukrainian drone attacks led to power outages in the Kursk region, leaving 16,000 consumers without electricity, and targeted a substation in Russia's Volgograd region.

At the same time, fundraising continues for generators for Belgorod, which faces electricity issues due to Ukrainian drone attacks.

Tragically, on November 1, a strike on Ukrainian marines of the 35th Brigade occurred during an award ceremony in the rear of Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in casualties, including drone operators. Similar tragedies have happened before (in particular, the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade), but responsibility for negligent treatment of personnel is lacking. Practices of holding ceremonies in vulnerable locations are cited as a cause.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing a management crisis and a growing culture of impunity. Lack of accountability for commanders has renewed calls for military reform.

The front line situation in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad remains difficult: military personnel get to the cities on foot, evacuation is complicated, and there is an urgent need for drones. The public actively supports the army, providing drones to help retain positions.

Despite the situation, the military urges unity and support. Public assistance sustains lives and strengthens Ukraine’s defense.
