According to Bloomberg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with European allies, is attempting to revise the current peace plan by introducing their own proposals. This move comes as a reaction to the position of the US, in particular Donald Trump's team, which, as Financial Times reports, insists on accepting the current plan without discussion or amendments.
Driscoll, Trump's new representative, has expressed a firm stance against Ukrainian suggestions. If no compromise is reached, there is a threat that arms supplies and intelligence sharing could end after November 27, Thanksgiving Day in the US.
Trump remains unwilling to change his position on Ukraine. He emphasizes that only decisive actions, such as significant advances by Ukrainian forces or large-scale attacks on Russian targets, could influence his decision.
European leaders, including Merz and Starmer, acknowledge the complexity of the situation and urge acceptance of the current reality. The EU is also urging the US to put more pressure on Russia, but the implementation of new sanctions is delayed, and some already announced measures are yet to take effect.
European support for Ukraine is cautious; many countries discuss military aid, but concrete decisions are often postponed. Tensions are growing in US-EU relations regarding arms supplies and financial support for Ukraine.
Russia, meanwhile, responds positively to Trump’s proposals, viewing them as a potential basis for a settlement. However, experts highlight that Russian authorities remain focused on war and use any pause to rebuild military capacity.
Experts agree that the situation remains tense, with upcoming decisions by the US and the EU likely to determine future developments around Ukraine.
