Peace negotiations on resolving the situation in Ukraine are underway in Geneva. A member of the negotiating group from Switzerland reported that the current version of the "Trump plan" already includes most of Ukraine’s priorities. Details are not revealed, but the US is said to take Ukrainian concerns seriously.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva is working to find effective solutions to end the war, restore peace and provide lasting security. American proposals may include key elements based on Ukraine’s national interests. Zelensky emphasized that work is ongoing and any agreement will be assessed by the country’s leadership.
Western media report that the US insists any final decision be made at a personal meeting between Zelensky and Trump. European leaders have suggested their proposals, including Ukraine regaining control over Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Kakhovka dam, free navigation on the Dnipro, and matters regarding the size of the Ukrainian armed forces.
Security guarantees for Ukraine—similar to NATO’s Article 5—are being discussed, along with the use of frozen Russian assets for compensation. Sanctions relief for Russia is being considered only after compliance with agreements. Some European nations express skepticism about a quick agreement, underlining the complexity of the negotiations.
Northern European leaders reaffirmed support for Ukraine, while the European Commission highlights Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Talks continue and final agreements remain under discussion.
