Updates on Peace Plans and International Reaction: Ukraine, US, EU and Russia's Positions

Analysis of recent peace initiatives, global leaders’ comments, diplomatic meetings, and the response from Ukraine and the international community.

Russia has stated that the American peace plan suits them best, while opposing European proposals that include protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty, maintaining its armed forces, and rejecting amnesty for Russian offenders. The Ukrainian parliament and authorities are holding consultations with international partners. President Volodymyr Zelensky is waiting for a negotiators’ report, but is already holding phone discussions with prime ministers from countries like Norway and Sweden. Sweden reaffirmed its continued support for Ukraine and non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea and other occupied territories.

The Washington Post reports that Trump avoids delving into the details of peace plans, showing little interest in their content. At the same time, the new US administration is pushing for accelerated negotiations and has indicated that support could be halted if there’s no progress by Thanksgiving.

In Ukraine’s parliament, Speaker Johnson stressed the need for parliamentary discussion on peace, outlining “red lines” – no recognition of occupation, the right to choose alliances, and preserving national identity. However, there is debate among politicians on the appropriateness of such statements.

Other international reactions include Erdogan’s support for the Russian deal option, though Ukrainian leadership does not consider these terms acceptable. German officials criticized the idea of returning Russia to the G7, as envisaged in the US plan.

The discussion also covers internal political issues, investigations of former Ukrainian officials, and anti-corruption processes. In cultural news, Ukrainian Danilo Yevhusyshyn became Japan’s sumo champion, highlighting the country’s international sports achievements.
