Geneva Talks: Ukraine, US and Europe Prepare New Peace Framework

Ukraine, the US, and European countries held negotiations in Geneva, prepared an updated peace plan, and reaffirmed their commitment to peace.

Key negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and European countries took place in Geneva. Following the meeting, Ukraine and the US released a joint statement noting the constructive and productive nature of the consultations and their shared commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace.

The parties made significant progress, preparing a revised framework document outlining agreed positions and next steps. Both sides emphasized that any future agreement must guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and provide for stable peace.

The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude for the US support and Donald Trump’s personal involvement in the negotiation process. Intensive work is expected to continue in the coming days, with final decisions to be taken by Zelensky and Trump during an upcoming meeting in the US.

Experts agree that the main blocks of the future agreement will cover territorial issues, Ukraine’s armed forces, humanitarian matters (language, religion), and sanctions against Russia. In addition to the American plan, Europe has prepared an alternative draft with stricter security guarantees and sanction mechanisms.

The discussion of plans is accompanied by varied opinions among politicians and experts in the US, EU, and the UK. Western partners stress the importance of carefully considering peace terms and avoiding undue risk.
