An expert explains why the American delegation agreed to revise key points in the ongoing Ukraine negotiations. He believes all parties now operate within the framework of the so-called "Trump plan," coordinated by the United States. Further discussion on territorial and security matters has been postponed, and will require coordination with additional partners, especially EU and NATO countries.
Some issues, such as amnesty, church, or language matters, were removed from the agenda to prevent complications and to accommodate European partners. Real security guarantees are likely to be discussed not only for Ukraine, but for Europe as a whole.
At the same time, questions regarding military aid to Ukraine, intelligence data, and risks of possible blackmail or technical disruptions, such as failures in Starlink, remain relevant.
The expert forecasts that the negotiation process will continue for several more months, and some issues may return in a revised form, depending on Russia's stance. A final settlement is possible only with the participation of China and a system of guarantors from the US and Western countries.
