Day’s Summary: Andriy Yermak’s Resignation, President’s Office Reset, and International Reactions

Key events: Andriy Yermak resigns after searches, Zelensky's decisions, Western responses, and the latest conflict developments.

On November 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the resignation of Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office, following Yermak’s statement of intent to leave his post. The announcement came amid searches carried out by NABU and SAP.

Zelensky emphasized that this step is aimed at eliminating doubts regarding Ukraine’s positions and to initiate a reset of the President’s Office. He thanked Yermak for his patriotic representation in negotiations, announced consultations on a new head, and underscored the need for Ukraine’s inner strength to counter external threats.

The government’s performance will also be reviewed, particularly that of the Ministers of Energy and Justice given the wartime and winter difficulties. The President highlighted the need to approve the 2026 budget to sustain defense and social stability.

These administrative changes have prompted reactions from the EU. Searches at top officials’ homes are seen as evidence of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies. Nevertheless, granting Ukraine a reparations loan remains uncertain, as Belgium insists on collective EU responsibility for releasing frozen Russian assets.

The US is discussing possible peace agreements concerning temporarily occupied territories, with Ukraine’s negotiating team to include representatives of the President’s Office, General Staff, MFA, and intelligence agencies. Talks are expected soon.

The military situation remains tense: Ukraine’s Armed Forces have struck Russian targets, including the Saratov refinery and Saky airfield. The Ministry of Energy warns that energy supply restrictions are expected due to the difficult winter ahead.

President Zelensky calls for unity and maintaining internal strength to defend Ukraine.
