On the night of November 29, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine with 600 drones and 35 missiles, mainly targeting Kyiv and its region. Two people were killed in the capital, and 27 others were injured. Large areas of the city remain without power and there is widespread damage to residential buildings and infrastructure across Ukraine.
Drones also violated Moldovan airspace, prompting a temporary closure and the deployment of Polish F-16s. Ukrainian drones attacked Russian targets, such as an oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region.
Near the Bosporus, two empty Russian tankers exploded, allegedly due to a mine and a maritime drone attack. The circumstances are still under investigation.
Germany has approved €11.5 billion in aid for Ukraine in 2026, directed at defense and military support, amid ongoing EU discussions over Ukraine funding. Meanwhile, Putin signed a new Russian budget with a chronic deficit, primarily allocating resources to military and security sectors.
In Ukrainian domestic politics, Andriy Yermak resigned after corruption investigations and stated his intention to go to the front. The EU commissioner urged Ukraine to fight high-level corruption for its EU accession prospects. Ukrainian politicians support the president's approach to enhancing anti-corruption efforts.
