A new round of negotiations between Ukrainian and American delegations took place recently in Florida. Both sides described the process as positive, noting steady progress amid unresolved key issues. Another meeting is already planned.
Ukrainian expert Valeriy Klochok stressed that these talks are finalizing Ukraine’s stance on a peace plan, proposed by Moscow and supported by Donald Trump. He pointed out that, informally, direct talks with Russia are underway, with key figures from the Kremlin and US mediators involved. Critical compromises await decisions from Putin and his inner circle. While the US, European countries, and Turkey are pursuing their interests, Ukraine aims to secure the most favorable outcomes.
Klochok highlighted that reaching an agreement to end active hostilities is possible, but Russia continues to pressure Ukraine through both military actions and information campaigns. Despite different approaches, American and European support remains vital for Ukraine’s resilience.
Special attention was given to the information war waged by Russia. Effective resistance requires a unified national strategy with the involvement of independent media, opinion leaders, and state support. Pluralism is the strength of a democratic society, but the government must find effective ways to counter Russian disinformation.
In conclusion, the expert advised Ukrainians to maintain critical thinking, thoroughly verify information from various sources, and support open public discussions on the country’s future.
