US Delegation in Moscow: Results of Talks with the Kremlin and New Ultimatums

After the sixth visit of US representatives to Moscow, no compromise was reached on peace in Ukraine. The Kremlin put forward new territorial demands.

This video blog covers the sixth visit of a US delegation to Moscow for negotiations on settling the war in Ukraine. The participants included Vitkoff and Jared Kushner. The US side hoped for progress, but the talks ended without substantial results.

Before the meeting, the guests were treated to a top Moscow restaurant, followed by the Kremlin stalling the delegation with classic time-consuming tactics. President Putin made several statements at the "Russia Calling" forum, accusing Europe of sabotaging the peace process and threatening Ukraine with new strikes on ports in response to attacks on Russian ships in the Black Sea.

During talks, the Russian side insisted that Ukraine withdraw from Donbas, hold elections, and reduce its army. Ukraine and the US did not agree to these terms. The main differences remain—chiefly, the question of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Jared Kushner proved to be a constructive negotiator, but the parties could not find any compromise. The visit ended without a final meeting with President Zelensky, as the negotiations did not yield the desired results.

After the unsuccessful talks, EU leadership expressed concern that pressure on Ukraine might increase. The Kremlin presented the visit as a diplomatic success, but no actual progress towards peace was made.
