In recent months, the situation on Ukraine's frontline has become more complicated. According to an expert, Russian advances doubled in November, Pokrovsk is under increasing pressure, and the most critical zone is now near Huliaipole. The Ukrainian defense faces a shortage of personnel, difficulties in countering Russian electronic warfare, and Russia's current air superiority, especially regarding FPV drones.
The main challenge is to stabilize the frontline and maintain strategic positions, particularly near Pokrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kupiansk. The expert emphasizes the importance of developing multi-layered defenses in key directions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and the surrounding areas of Zaporizhzhia.
At the same time, domestic political potential and the consequences of possible concessions to Russia remain crucial. Current terms for negotiations are unacceptable for Ukraine, and public opinion does not support peace through unilateral withdrawal. If the military situation does not change, Ukraine risks entering talks from a losing position. The political leadership is currently unwilling to accept such terms, even under internal political pressure.
Experts argue that freezing the conflict without concessions might be the optimal outcome, but Russia is not accepting this scenario. The only way to avoid a negative result is to strengthen defenses and use modern deterrence technologies. Furthermore, the General Staff dismissed Russian claims of capturing Dobropillia, and Ukrainian forces continue holding the northern part of Pokrovsk.
