On December 10, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a press conference in an online chat format of the President's Office. A key topic was elections in Ukraine amid martial law. Zelensky stated he is ready for elections if the EU and US provide security guarantees and if parliament amends the law. Elections could take place within 60–90 days with partner support, though martial law is not expected to be lifted.
Zelensky also commented on the unresolved issue of appointing a new head of the President's Office, highlighting that the top priority remains the war and that finding a replacement for Andriy Yermak is difficult.
In peace negotiations, Zelensky said work continues on bilateral security guarantees with the US, modeled on NATO Article 5, and a 20-point peace agreement is discussed. Ukraine conducts daily consultations with the EU, US, and Canada. Finland’s president and the European Council's head reaffirmed ongoing support for Ukraine from Europe.
Poland announced readiness to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in exchange for defense technologies and joint arms production. Meanwhile, Thailand’s military reportedly used the Ukrainian-made Oplot tank in conflict with Cambodia for the first time.
On the frontline, since mid-November, Ukrainian troops have regained control of northern Pokrovsk (Donetsk region) and continue to hold defensive positions. Russia has concentrated 156,000 troops near Pokrovsk and Myrnograd. Fighting continues in these areas.
In the past day, Russia launched 80 drones at Ukraine, 50 of which were intercepted. Infrastructure was damaged in several regions, with one civilian killed in Dnipropetrovsk and nine wounded in Kherson.
A bill suggesting US withdrawal from NATO appeared in American political discourse. According to Zelensky, such statements are likely a signal to European partners to increase their own defense efforts.
In Ukraine, MP Anna Skorokhod is under investigation for alleged bribery and is currently out on bail as the case proceeds.
