Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko, during a livestream, analyzed the current state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the need for reforms. He addressed the issue of frozen Russian assets, emphasizing their importance for budget support and army funding. Sternenko believes that deep economic, customs, and tax reforms are necessary, as systemic corruption significantly reduces Ukraine's revenues each year.
Special attention was paid to the issue of unauthorized military unit abandonment (SZZH) in the Armed Forces. According to Sternenko, ineffective commanders and lack of dialogue with the military contribute to the problem. He argues that tough measures on SZZH without addressing root causes only worsen the crisis in the army. He calls for a comprehensive approach: changes in mobilization, soldier training, and greater attention to feedback from frontline troops.
The discussion also covered elections under martial law, the likelihood of Russian aggression against other states, the effectiveness of international aid, and cooperation with charitable foundations. Sternenko stresses that relying on the army and implementing internal reforms are decisive for Ukraine’s resilience. He concludes that without comprehensive changes, Ukraine faces serious challenges, and urges citizens to support the army and demand reforms.
