A Ukrainian delegation is heading to Miami for negotiations with US representatives focused on security guarantees, Ukraine's postwar economic recovery, military funding, and 20 key points of a framework agreement to end the war. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the main provisions of this agreement are already ready, with only details remaining to be finalized.
The delegation’s meetings are expected over the weekend, though Zelensky himself will not join the team in Miami. Speculation exists that a personal meeting between Zelensky and Donald Trump could occur only if Ukraine agrees to withdraw troops from Donbas—a condition considered unlikely by Kyiv.
Following earlier talks in Berlin, further consultations between US envoys and Moscow are expected, with outcomes potentially shaping the next steps. The main Russian and US demand remains the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, a demand Ukraine views as unacceptable.
Security guarantees from the US are among the central topics. Americans may propose ratifying an agreement on such guarantees, but concrete terms are still unclear. European partners, including France and Britain, are reportedly ready to lead a coalition ensuring Ukraine’s security after the war ends. Final decisions from European countries will depend on their parliamentary approval.
Public opinion in Ukraine currently supports a ceasefire without troop withdrawal from Donbas, and President Zelensky is focused on defending national interests. Discussions on potential compromises remain the subject of ongoing consultations with international partners.
