Western media report that talks between Dmitriev and Vidkof have reached an impasse, with no concrete outcomes achieved. US outlets note that Russia refuses compromise on major demands, including those concerning Donbas and security guarantees for Ukraine. US Senator Lindsey Graham stated that if Russia withdraws from the talks, further sanctions are needed and Ukraine should be supplied with Tomahawk missiles to target enemy facilities.
Ukraine's Defense Minister Umerov revealed that five key issues were discussed: reconstruction, bilateral security guarantees, overall security guarantees for Ukraine, deadlines, and ending the war. However, no meaningful breakthrough was reached, and the negotiations remain stalled.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues taking active steps on the battlefield: it struck Lipetsk, destroying Russian aircraft, and hit ports in the Taman region. Additionally, a Russian general involved in operations in Ukraine was killed by an explosion. International tension is mounting: Germany reported 1,000 drone incursions over the past year, raising concerns over potential conflict preparation.
Given increased threats and the lack of progress, Ukraine and its allies are urging for greater support, including new sanctions against Russia and the delivery of advanced weaponry. The US political debate over aid to Ukraine and continued sanctions remains significant. Experts highlight a lack of Western unity, but Ukraine calls for mobilization to contain Russian aggression and prevent broader conflicts in Europe and globally.
