Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Hnatov and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. According to official sources, they discussed the outcomes of recent international negotiations, particularly with US representatives.
Zelensky heard detailed reports from both Hnatov and Umerov and highlighted productive cooperation with the American side. Ukraine has received draft documents covering security guarantees, recovery, and a basic framework for ending the war.
Experts note that while negotiations continue, key challenges lie in parallel dialogues between the US and Russia. The Russian side so far shows reluctance to accept further conditions proposed by the West, while increasing military pressure and presenting their own demands.
There are signs of progress in talks between Ukraine, the US, and Europe, although issues such as the status of occupied territories, energy, NATO guarantees, and others remain unresolved. Some experts rate progress in the talks as “3-4 out of 5,” noting that Ukraine has reached a compromise with the West, but Russia insists on its positions.
Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming weeks, with outcomes largely depending on the Kremlin’s response to new proposals voiced in Washington. The peace process is ongoing, but key issues still require further agreement.
