Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made several statements regarding the forthcoming peace agreement between Ukraine and the United States. He said the agreement is almost ready, and the decision on signing will depend on the format of the future meeting with the US President.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has prepared several documents related to security guarantees, as well as progress on an economic agreement. According to him, a meeting with Donald Trump is scheduled for December 28 in Florida, where the issues of security guarantees, economics, and existing differences between the parties will be discussed.
The President noted that the decision to sign the peace agreement will be discussed with European partners who have previously provided financial support to Ukraine. He also stressed the importance of Russia's participation in the negotiation process: in Zelensky's view, signing an agreement without Russia and European countries is not possible.
Zelensky also reported that Ukraine and the US have agreed on an Armed Forces size of 800,000, and that discussions regarding the deployment of foreign military contingents in Ukraine will take place only after a ceasefire is achieved.
The question of responsibility for signing the peace agreement remains important for Ukraine and may be submitted to a referendum in case of particularly sensitive issues. Debates on legislative initiatives regarding elections continue and will depend on the security situation and developments at the front.
Zelensky stressed the main goal is to avoid capitulation and reach a solution acceptable to all parties. Work on five documents on security guarantees continues, and active dialogue with the US and European partners is ongoing.
