New Details Ahead of Zelensky-Trump Meeting: Ukraine’s Delegation, War Scenarios, and Reconstruction Plans

Key updates on the Ukrainian delegation, reconstruction talks, and possible war scenarios before the planned Zelensky-Trump summit.

New information has emerged ahead of the planned meeting between Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. The details include the composition of the Ukrainian delegation and possible financial assistance for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

President Zelensky will lead the delegation, which includes Defense Minister Umerov, Economy Minister Soboliev, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov, Presidential Office Advisor Oleksandr Bevs, and First Deputy Foreign Minister Kyslytsia.

The negotiations will address security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States, European security assistance, military cooperation, and attracting up to $800 billion for reconstruction with the creation of special funds.

Military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov stated that Russia’s main objective for 2026 is to fully occupy the Zaporizhzhia region and advance into the Dnipropetrovsk region. Budanov also noted that February could present an "opportunity window" for a peace agreement, and that more voices around President Putin are calling to end the war. Al Jazeera experts have outlined three possible war scenarios:

  • "Finnish scenario" – occupation and recognition of Russian-controlled territories;
  • "Georgian scenario" – Ukraine losing control over territories without formal recognition;
  • "Temporary scenario" – continued fighting alongside ongoing negotiations.

Elsewhere, there was an incident involving the National Anti-Corruption Bureau’s attempt to enter the government quarter to deliver charges to MPs, and Ukraine has synchronized sanctions with the UK targeting entities and individuals involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children and military supplies to Russia.

Ukraine’s political landscape is actively preparing for the crucial meeting with the US leader, which may determine the next steps in the war and reconstruction process.
