The United States Department of State has urgently called on all American citizens to leave Russia. This warning was reported by Fox News, citing sources in the State Department. Those who remain are advised to draft a will and avoid social media due to heightened risks and possible unexpected developments.
According to US officials, Americans face the risks of unlawful detentions, interrogations, arbitrary application of local laws, and limited access to consular assistance. The increased danger is also linked to the escalation of the war in Ukraine and the possibility of provocations resulting in significant casualties.
The Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service reports that Russia is preparing new provocations aimed at blaming Ukraine for crimes on the eve of Christmas holidays. The forecast suggests possible incidents at religious sites or other symbolic locations, including in temporarily occupied territories.
Both Ukrainian and Western representatives deny involvement in the shelling of a hotel in Kharlakh (Kherson region) and other accusations voiced by Russian authorities. There is increased activity in Russian media, focusing on internal and international audiences with an information campaign.
Against this backdrop, the US, EU, and international organizations advise their citizens to be especially cautious about possible escalations. Ukrainian experts emphasize that such actions are part of Russia's pressure and information warfare strategy. Ukrainian officials are expected to issue statements on upcoming political developments and the evolving situation in the country.
