Valeriy Klochok, a public figure and head of the "Nova Doroha" Charity Foundation, discusses in an interview the US' first proceedings against Nicolás Maduro. The official US stance accuses Maduro of creating a 'narco-terrorist regime.' Klochok believes that Donald Trump's actions were timely and aimed at reducing China and Russia's influence in Venezuela due to its strategic potential.
Klochok notes that US Democrats have not voiced considerable criticism regarding Trump's actions, since Venezuela's policy of nationalizing American investments started under Hugo Chávez, and Maduro's regime has maintained rigged elections and dictatorship. Support from China and Russia remains crucial to Venezuela's regime.
The interviewer and guest also discussed whether events in Venezuela could reflect on the situation in Iran and Taiwan, emphasizing that the US shows readiness to support allies, such as Taiwan, in the face of growing Chinese aggression. According to Klochok, scenarios where Trump turns a blind eye to China regarding Taiwan or to Russia regarding Eastern Europe are political manipulations.
On Russia, Klochok stresses that the main adversary for the US today is China, and Trump's strategy is to detach Russia from Chinese influence. However, the expert doubts Trump can fully achieve this, but believes it is possible to limit China's control over Russia. Klochok criticizes the reactions of several European leaders and highlights the importance of defending democracy, as well as the growing role of the US in supporting Ukraine and global security.
