Massive Attack on Ukraine: Strikes on Lviv and Kyiv Regions, Trump’s Position and Russian Response

Russia launched a massive attack targeting Ukrainian cities and civil infrastructure. Trump and other global leaders reacted; Russians rejected peace proposals.

A large-scale Russian attack has been confirmed in the Lviv and Kyiv regions of Ukraine. Overnight, Russian forces launched heavy strikes against civilian infrastructure, including residential areas and energy facilities. Around 230 Shahed-type kamikaze drones and 35 cruise missiles were launched at Kyiv and its surroundings. Many targets were hit, resulting in numerous civilian casualties.

The Russian side openly claimed responsibility, justifying their strikes as responses to alleged attacks on their territory. Ukrainian officials, however, said civilians and non-military infrastructure were deliberately targeted, which violates the laws of war.

Donald Trump stated he supported security guarantees for Ukraine and called for peaceful resolution. However, Russian authorities rejected peace proposals, demanding Ukraine's demilitarization and the absence of foreign military presence on Ukrainian soil.

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi emphasized that Russia is determined to continue the war and warned about possible further escalation. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to leave the city if possible, to ease the burden on energy supply networks.

The Ukrainian side again underscored the need for international assistance to defend the country and protect civilians. Despite the challenging circumstances, officials call for unity and continued support in facing ongoing aggression.
