President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated when Ukraine expects a peace agreement to be signed or at least approved. However, he points out that Russia's recent actions tell a different story. Strikes on Lviv region by Russia highlight, according to Zelensky, that President Vladimir Putin is not planning to sign any peace deal. Instead, such aggressive actions illustrate Russia’s weakness both politically and militarily on the battlefield.
Observers emphasize that Russia is not making battlefield gains and is spreading disinformation both internally and externally, which influences the Kremlin’s declarations.
Simultaneously, Ukraine is working with the United States on strategic postwar recovery plans, including a potential $800 billion agreement to rebuild Ukraine over ten years, with phased funding and oversight to ensure effective use of resources.
On the political front, leaders in the US and Europe are evaluating Russia’s tactics and its influence in Venezuela and other countries. Donald Trump has expressed disappointment with Putin but currently rules out the use of force. Meanwhile, European leaders are calling for direct talks with Russia regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.
International support for Ukraine continues to grow, with France, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Scotland all voicing readiness to assist. At the same time, Russia shows resistance to security guarantees for Ukraine and refuses to recognize the end of its occupation in Ukrainian territories.
A response from Moscow to the Western settlement proposal is expected by the end of the month. Ukraine is now focused on strengthening its defenses, preparing for negotiations, and securing diplomatic and military support to achieve a just peace.
