Key Topics of the Davos Forum: Greenland, Trump’s Policy, and Ukraine’s Future

Discussion on the Davos World Economic Forum agenda: Greenland in focus, Trump’s Arctic strategy, security and Ukraine’s prospects.

As of January 19, the Center for Public Analytics "Vezha" discusses the main topics shaping the agenda of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Key issues include the future of Greenland, US security policy, the Trump administration’s international strategy, and Ukraine’s role in global processes.

Political analysts emphasize that control over the Arctic region is increasingly relevant due to the interests of China and Russia. European countries have relied on US initiatives to contain competitors’ influence, but the current Trump administration demonstrates its own approach, shifting the foreign policy agenda, actively raising the Greenland issue, and reexamining trade and security relations with NATO and the EU.

This year’s forum in Davos brings together a record US delegation. Analysts predict that the dominant issue will be Greenland—as a military and strategic outpost for the US in the Arctic—as well as efforts to prevent the spread of Chinese and Russian influence.

Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, experts note that the US policy of seeking conflict resolution remains relevant, but the Trump administration has temporarily shifted its information focus to other topics, keeping Ukraine on the agenda but not as a top priority.

Separately, the statement by the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Syrsky on the continued defense of Ukraine in 2026 and possible counteroffensive operations is seen as an element of political communication ahead of key international meetings.

The European Union is preparing to approve a new financial aid package for Ukraine despite difficulties in its adoption. Ukrainian authorities demonstrate unity and call for increased support from Western partners.

In summary, Vezha experts stress that the Davos Forum will serve as a platform for new agreements on Greenland, the Arctic, and Ukraine, but no breakthroughs are expected. Talks continue, paving the way for the gradual evolution of security and geopolitical strategies on the continent.
