Recently, Donald Trump’s plane broke down en route to Davos, forcing him to return to the US. Despite this, Trump arrived at Davos and made statements about NATO, reaffirming he has done more for the alliance than anyone else, although he is reducing the US staff in NATO structures by 200 people. Trump also commented on his global policy work, saying that “God is pleased” with his actions.
Discussions in Davos go beyond Greenland and focus on a crucial global issue – the war in Ukraine. Experts and international media emphasize that Ukraine remains the world’s main conflict and call for support to get through a particularly difficult winter. Foreign media report that 600,000 people have left Kyiv; yet, despite energy and humanitarian challenges, Ukrainians continue to resist and remain united.
Amid Ukraine’s difficult situation, politicians stress that distractions like Greenland only benefit Russia. The main message is that Davos, the US, and Europe must focus on supporting Ukraine. Additionally, China has expressed disappointment in Russia, especially over events in Venezuela, signaling new shifts in the geopolitical landscape.
Ukrainian military and government are calling for unity and support for the army, particularly the 77th Airborne Brigade, which is fundraising for pickup trucks and a computer for their command post. It is crucial for national and local authorities to avoid conflicts and work together during wartime.
Davos discussions also include Trump’s Peace Council and the potential participation of various countries, including Ukraine. The standoff continues both on the battlefield and diplomatically, with Ukraine seeking international support and arms, as well as raising the issue of Russia’s genocidal actions during attacks on critical infrastructure.
