Ostap Drozdov: Anti-NATO Sentiments in Ukraine and Western Geopolitical Support

Journalist Ostap Drozdov on anti-NATO rhetoric in Ukraine, the West's role, and the moral dimension in politics and scandals.

In an interview with Radio UA Chicago, journalist, blogger and writer Ostap Drozdov discusses the NATO Secretary General's visit to Kyiv and the reaction of Ukrainian society and politicians to the Alliance’s support.

Drozdov highlights the prevalence of anti-NATO views in Ukraine, comparing them to those in Russia and rogue states. He calls for self-criticism and recognition of responsibility for political choices: “We were a non-aligned country, and now should not blame the Alliance for not giving enough support to a non-member.”

He also addresses the anti-moral rhetoric regarding Ukraine’s position in the West, support from the US and Donald Trump, and the moral-ethical aspects of political scandals linked to celebrities and the sex industry. Drozdov notes that such phenomena are common to political elites worldwide and are nothing new.

The journalist underscores the need for a mature approach to Ukraine’s history, responsibility, and for separating personalities from global policy. It is important to analyze the actions of world leaders objectively, especially regarding support for Ukraine during the war.

Finally, he observes that moral scandals like the “Epstein files” happen not only in the West, but also in Ukrainian political and social life, and that such topics are used by intelligence agencies in many countries. According to Drozdov, responsibility and maturity should be a priority in public discussion.
