On March 24, at the "Pravda Online" studio, expert Maksym Nesvitailov discussed current issues of Ukrainian and global politics with the Veza Public Analytics Center. The discussion focused on challenges in the negotiation process against the backdrop of the Middle East conflict and the declining world attention to the war in Ukraine.
The guest explained that significant US leverage over Ukraine lies in intelligence sharing, supplying Patriot missiles, and Starlink access. However, American influence is gradually weakening, and in the future, Europe and China may play a decisive role. Nesvitailov emphasized that the keys to conflict resolution are no longer solely in Washington or Moscow but will be split between Brussels and Beijing.
A probable new negotiation format may revolve around the Europe-China axis. China is likely to act as a security guarantor for Europe and Ukraine, exerting influence over Russia. At the same time, some Ukrainian territories could remain under Russian control for a long period, while Ukraine maintains its state sovereignty and pursues closer integration with the EU.
The expert noted that Europe is currently leaning toward neutrality, and China is interested in stabilizing the region to serve its own interests. The alternative to such compromise agreements is a protracted global conflict involving the US, Europe, and China, which poses significant risks for Ukraine.
